The short answer

What do medical billing services cover?

Medical billing is the work of getting a healthcare provider paid by insurance companies and patients. It starts before the visit, with checking that the patient's insurance is active and getting approval for services that need it. It continues with sending a correct claim to the insurer, fixing any claim that is rejected or denied, and recording every payment and adjustment when the money arrives.

When you outsource medical billing to us, a trained team does that work for you every day, in your own billing software and payer portals. You keep control of your systems and your data. We sign your Business Associate Agreement before we touch any patient information.

We work on both sides of a claim. For providers and billing companies, we handle the steps that bring payment in. For health plans and third-party administrators, we process provider claims and manage member enrollments and terminations. Our first client, a Florida organization that handles billing for insurance companies, is where the team learned the payer side.

Most of our current clients are in New York and Florida, and we work with clients anywhere in the United States.

Questions

What practices and plans ask us.

Do you sign a Business Associate Agreement?
Yes. We sign your practice's or plan's BAA before any patient data is shared with us.
Which billing software do you work in?
Our team has worked in NextGen Office and SimplePractice on the provider side, and in VBA, Solstice, Guardian, Selerix and clients' own claims systems on the payer side. For claims and payments we use Availity and the payer portals of UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, BCBS, Medicare and Medicaid, among others.
Which specialties do you bill for?
Physical, speech, occupational and feeding therapy, Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC), dental, endocrinology and internal medicine.
Do you work with medical billing companies?
Yes. Billing companies that need extra hands for posting, claim submission or denial work are one of the two client types we want to grow with. The other is health plans and third-party administrators.
What hours does the team work?
You choose: US business hours in your time zone, overnight so the work is ready when you open, or 24/7 shifts.
Who is behind the billing team?
Assign Your Task Inc., a Virginia corporation and a subsidiary of Hire My Assistants KPO LLP, which has run outsourcing operations since 2014.
How much does outsourced medical billing cost?
$9 an hour, one rate for every medical billing service we offer. You pay for the hours our team works on your account, not a percentage of your collections. See medical billing pricing.
